A New Year And A New Home

4 Jan

Today Glamorgan Quilters met for the first time this year in their new home – Ystradowen Village Hall.

It was a busy day with a fabric and book sale to raise funds for Parkinson’s Disease, a raffle with lovely calendars as prizes and news of various forthcoming workshops.

There was also time for a show and tell session to showcase the amazing talent of the group. A few of the quilts that were shown are pictured below.

This is one of the many that Jeannie has recently completed – as ever beautiful vibrant colours and backed with Minky. (Google Minky to find out more)

Pam showed the group a memory quilt that she had made when her mother in law celebrated her 90th birthday

Ann showed a few quilts that she had made from scraps of fabric. She is busy trying to reduce her stash of fabric so that she can go out and buy more – what a sensible idea! This is the back of one of her quilts – quite amazing!

Jeannie was also busy using up fabric that she had bought for making her Christmas decorations.

And Fran was busy hand sewing a beautiful oriental looking piece of work.

Next month members can sell items they no longer want in their stash -so it’s time to get busy sorting folks!

It was such a great way to start 2014 with such creativity, talent and workmanship in the Show and Tell at Glamorgan Quilters. I had a great day among friends and my guest, Mel, really enjoyed the day too amongst such friendly folk.
