Stephanie Crawford’s Unfolding Stories.

13 Jun

Stephanie came to talk to us about her work and spoke of how her quilting had changed and evolved from patchwork and quilting. Her love of drawing, painting, printing and stitching on fabric came out and she found her own style! What a style, we were enthralled and inspired for an hour, and thoroughly enjoyed looking at her work.

60’s inspiration! A large wall hanging consisting of 30 small quilts held together with hand made 60’s style buttons.

This is a series of quilts based on photos taken by Stephanie’s friend, Jayne Burton, of Samba dancers at the St Paul’s Festival 2013.

Following a trip to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) this is the first part of a tryptych.

The Tube.

This bed quilt uses  36 blocks – two stencilled designs. Beautiful!

Black and white series called “Frome Views”

Triptych – A Chinese journey in three parts which won first prize in the pictorial category at Festival of Quilts 2013 and “Best in World” at the World Quilt Show in the US 2014. Stunning!

We had a good turnout for Stephanie’s talk and members couldn’t wait for it too start!

 Wendy Surridge Challenge

There are some superb entries for the Miniature Challenge this year and we all found it so difficult to vote! Well done to all who entered, winners to be announced in July at the AGM!

Little Laura’s Haberdashery (The Quilt Shop)

Supplier Little Laura’s also came with an array of stock to choose from. Quilting heaven! Who could ask for more. Thank you both!
