Project Linus Link

15 Jan

This month member Chris Morfett, who is the local volunteer organiser for Project Linus, talked about the work it does to comfort young people in difficult and vulnerable situations.

They aim to provide a sense of security to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers through the provsion of new homemade patchwork quilts and knitted/crocheted blankets. Chris told us that the name Linus came from the Snoopy cartoon, where the character Linus always carried a security blanket. Project Linus came to Britain in 2000 and since then have donated 330947 blankets. The quilts are always given to the child, so stay with the families and in many cases go on to be much treasured items.

Chris also won the raffle this month and was visibly delighted with her Gail Lawther “Birds” book. Well done Chris!
