Jan Hassard and Strips Galore

31 Jul

In July Jan Hassard, who has been a quilter and embroiderer for many years and is a member of both the Quilters’ and Embroiderers’ Guilds, came to teach a workshop for some of the group. We had a fascinating day and were taught an interesting technique using strata strips to make colourful blocks with a variety of designs.  We had a wonderful time with some fabulous results!

Jan returned the following day to our AGM, to bring some stunning quilts and to talk about her successful journey through design and colour!

We learnt a tremendous amount and thoroughly enjoyed the two days with Jan!

Kaffe Fassett at the American Museum

29 Jul

On our Summer trip to the American Museum in Bath we were treated to stunning quilts, beautiful gardens and a delicious lunch in a gorgeous setting. What a treat it was! Kaffe Fasset’s return to the museum for the special exhibition 2019 showcases 20 brand new quilts that he has designed, inspired by the museums own collection of antique American quilts. This exhibition is on until October so if you get the chance to go it is not to be missed. I enjoyed the whole thing so much that I went round twice! The redeveloped gardens are just a pleasure to stroll around and the views over the Limpley Stoke Valley are breathtaking. https://americanmuseum.org/

The floor in this area had been painted with tumbling blocks!

The gardens are spectacular!http://americanmuseum.org/whats-on/new-american-garden/
