Glamorgan Quilters July 2017 Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

The last meeting of the year on Saturday 8th July is the Summer Lunch and AGM. If you haven’t already booked in to the lunch and you intend to be there could you contact Isobelle or Corinne by Wednesday 5th July at the latest as we need accurate numbers for catering purposes. Contact Isobelle on email iseldas@aol.com Tel: 01656 785062 or Corinne on email glamquilt@gmail.com Tel; 01446 772930 or 07999 351466. There will be a charge of £5.00 on the door.

The speaker is Gail Lawther and there are still a couple of spaces on Gail’s workshop on the 7th if you’re quick.

Results of the Wendy Surridge Challenge will be announced on Saturday and the winner will receive the trophy plate. What a treat to see all those wonderful entries and no two the same in any way. It was so difficult to choose one to vote for!

Salinder’s trip to the West Country Quilt and Textile show on Saturday September 2nd at the University of the West of England Exhibition Centre in Bristol is filling up fast. This will be your last chance to secure a place.  It’s a fabulous venue with plenty of space to move around and much enjoyed by all who went last year. It will need to be finalised and paid for before we break for the Summer. For more information, contact Salinder Gammage..  T: 01443 224550 or 07996 697158. Email salg96@btinternet.com

Ystradowen Village Hall’s 30th Anniversary Open Day event is on 16th September so please come along and support Glamorgan Quilters stand. You can buy tea, coffee and biscuits on the day for a small cost. Entry is free of charge. All our regular hall users have been invited to display what they do or to advertise their clubs/groups. There will be events for children in a Marquee on the car park. If you would like to display a small piece of your work on our GQ stand have a chat to Keris or Corinne.

Don’t forget to come back for registration on 9th September. We have a lot of interesting things planned for the coming year. Also can you put your thinking caps on over the summer and try and come up with a simple, small, Christmas decoration we can all make for the Holy Cross Tree Festival. We’ll pool ideas in September and see what we come up with. Sorry about the “C” word in July but we need to get going as soon as we come back after the break! I have a couple of ideas to share sadly!
