Glamorgan Quilters Newsletter December 2018

 Hello Everyone,

It’s time for the Festivities to begin and on Saturday 8th December it’s the Christmas Lunch. You will be entertained by “Half Tidy”. Don’t forget to bring all those delicious plates of food ladies. I’m really sorry to be missing this but sad to say I have double booked myself.

You will be able to use the pub car park as well as the village hall this month, as unfortunately the Meadowvale Pub has closed again. Fingers crossed, not for too long.

 Getting to know you!

Here is a new section with some information about two of our new members. Do go and say hello and introduce yourselves!

Gillian Lloyd has recently joined Glamorgan Quilters having been a past member of Swansea Quilters.  Gillian found out about our group from her visit to Swansea Festival of Stitch and as she lives in Bridgend thought that our group would be a closer option for her.  Gillian has been sewing since her school days and is an accomplished quilter.  She is also involved in a correspondence group of appliqué blockers from around the world that send each other appliqué blocks as well as letters.  It’s fascinating so why not seek out Gillian and ask her about it.

Another new member is Jill Collins.
Having recently moved here from Kent Jill has quickly settled in, thanks to a number of friends already living in the area.  She came along and joined our quilting group and is lucky enough to live in Ystradowen so a stones throw to our monthly meeting.
Jill has been quilting for a number of years, actually since she was a teenager. Whilst living in Kent she used to visit a group based in the Puddleducks shop to quilt. The shop has now sadly closed but still has an online presence.
Jill is friends with a number of our members and has many friends and family already in the area so, I suspect, will have no problems settling in to life around here and sourcing the fabric shops. Now retired Jill intends to focus her time on quilt making and is currently busy making Christmas decorations from this month’s Today’s Quilter, a challenge her friends set down. If you like fiddly little things to keep your fingers busy take a look at what Jill is up to.
