Glamorgan Quilters June 2017 Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

This month we have another very busy meeting. Our speaker will be textile artist Stephanie Crawford. I can’t wait to see her quilts and hear what she has to say. Her website looks very interesting!

Little Laura’s Haberdashery will be with us for the morning. I saw them at the Malvern Quilt Show and they had quite an array of fabric and haberdashery.  Lots to look forward to and more to come!

The trip to the Malvern Quilt Show in May was a great success and enjoyed by all who went. Thanks again to Salinder for organising it for us!

Salinder is also organising a trip to the West Country Quilt and Textile show on Saturday September 2nd at the University of the West of England Exhibition Centre in Bristol. This is a fabulous venue with plenty of space to move around and much enjoyed by all who went last year. Salinder will be taking names and payment. This will need to be finalised and paid for before the summer break. For more information, contact Salinder Gammage..  T: 01443 224550 or 07996 697158. Email

Gail Lawther’s workshop, “Twilight Silhouettes” is coming up on Friday 7th July 10.00-4.00 cost £35. For those who don’t know, she is an award-winning quilter, teacher and the author of many crafting books. Take a look at her website for more. There are a couple of spaces left so book your place quickly!

The committee are planning to provide a Summer Lunch at the AGM meeting in July for which there will be a charge of £5.00 per person. We will be asking at the June meeting if you could indicate whether or not you will be attending so that we can get an idea of numbers, then we will take the money on the door at the July meeting. Gail Lawther is the speaker.

We are supporting Ystradowen Village Hall’s 30th Anniversary Open Day event with a display of work. There will be tea, coffee and biscuits available on the day for a small cost. Entry is free of charge so come along and have a look at the stands on display. All our regular hall users have been invited to display what they do or to advertise their clubs. If you would like to display a small piece of your work on our GQ stand have a chat to Keris or Corinne.
