A Busy Autumn Day

6 Oct

Last Saturday was a busy day for Glamorgan Quilters. As well an eagerness to get on with all things quilting members were asked to make a decoration for the Christmas tree that will be on display in the Holy Cross Church in Cowbridge.

Monica and Isobelle were busy completing decorations made from cotton bobbins.

Around 26 of the little men have now been completed.

Enid was busy trying to work out how to make a Christmas star from the pack she had been given – though she looks a little bewildered!

There was a lot of work in progress, and hexagons seem to be the flavour of the month.

Dilys is working on a sunny hexagon design.

Jeannie is blending greens splendidly!

And there is a lovely pastel quilt in the making.

A number of new members were welcomed to the group and Catherine brought along a very pretty sunny flower that she has been working on.

And, there was even Japanese folded patchwork to admire.

Jeannie, who is prolific at making quilts, showed the group two that she has recently completed.

Next month the group wil be able to sit back and enjoy a talk on Laura Ashley by Ann Rippon.

Selling Stash and Sewing – Bliss!

1 Feb

During the last month some of the GQ members have been busy having a fabric clear out and for those who hadn’t been so industrious they were in the fortunate position that they could buy even more fabric to add to the existing mountains that they have at home!

Once the sales had been exhausted everyone settled down to work – or to chat – as the case maybe.

There are some wonderful projects in progress. The original plan for this piece of work was that it would be a rug – but realising that it was far too good to be tramped on it will now hang on the wall when it is finished.

Fran is continuing to make her book – and as ever it is beautiful.

And, what a jolly children’s quilt!
