Festive Fun

11 Dec

This year the Christmas meeting was held in Ystradowen hall with members bringing plates of delicious food to share. The committee got there early to decorate the hall and it looked very festive when members arrived. Salinder organised the raffle with beautifully wrapped prizes, thank you Salinder! After lunch we were entertained by “Hims and Arias” and had great fun joining in with the Christmas carols and songs!img_5459-collageimg_5465-collage Pat Wallace brought a quilt to show us that she won on our GQ trip to the West Country Quilt show. A £1.00 ticket on the Tombola  for the Alzheimer’s Society won her this stunning quilt with an Autumn theme. Lucky Pat!img_5455-collage

Merry Christmas everyone and here are a few wise words from a snowman!

Holy Cross Christmas Tree Festival

7 Dec

Catherine and Corinne went to Holy Cross Church, Cowbridge to put up the Christmas Tree in time for the Festival. Most of the trees will be there all through the Christmas period so if you are in Cowbridge go along and have a look. There are some gorgeous trees and ours looks pretty good too! Thank you to everyone who made one of the folded decorations.

Travelling Trunks

5 Dec

At the November meeting we were able to take a look at one of the Travelling Trunks that are available to hire from the Quilters Guild. Members enjoyed going back in time to the 1950’s, 1920’s and even back as far as the 1800’s to compare some exquisite work with the work that we do today!

Christmas Decorations.

Everyone worked hard during the meeting to finish the decorations for the Christmas Tree Festival at Holy Cross Church, Cowbridge. Many members had worked at home, too so we had a gorgeous selection ready to go on the tree. Watch this space to see your tree on display!

Even though Helen Morgan was unable to come to this meeting, she sent along a lovely example of Noel Bunting she had made from a Lynne Edwards pattern for members to see. Decorate your home this Christmas or give it away as a gift? I’d be delighted to find it in my stocking!
